What this role looks like

Our primary hiring need is for part-time dog walkers with strong weekday midday availability.

A typical day may include:

  • Traveling to clients’ homes throughout Lower Merion and Havertown
  • Safely greeting and handling dogs
  • Walking dogs of varying sizes, personalities, and energy levels
  • Providing walks, exercise, relief, enrichment, and companionship
  • Refreshing water, picking up poop, wiping dirty paws, and handling routine care details
  • Sending visit notes, photos and short videos through our app
  • Driving between homes efficiently and responsibly
  • Representing Dog Gone Walking with professionalism, warmth, and good judgment
Our regular business hours are 9 AM–4 PM, and the greatest need for this role is typically weekday availability between 10 AM and 3 PM. Depending on client needs and your availability, there may also be opportunities for morning, evening, and weekend work.

WHAT WE NEED

Qualifications + what we look for

Ideal candidates share our philosophy on pets, pet care, and animal welfare. They must be able to self-manage, pay close attention to detail, have a flexible schedule, and be comfortable walking and driving in all weather conditions.

Most importantly, our dog walkers represent our company and should do so with professionalism and integrity. A willingness to learn and master new technology is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Live within 8 miles of Lower Merion/Havertown
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Have an insured, reliable vehicle
  • Pass a criminal background check
  • Provide verifiable personal and professional references
  • Have a smartphone with a consistent internet connection
  • Be willing to commit for at least six months, preferably longer
  • Be comfortable driving and working in all weather conditions
  • Have stamina for active days that may include brisk walks, assisting special-needs pets, picking up poop on walks, wiping dirty paws, and cleaning up pet accidents

PLAYGROUP OPPORTUNITIES

For team members who are interested and qualified, there may be opportunities to participate in dog playgroups.
This may include picking dogs up from their homes, transporting a dog in your personal vehicle, and bringing them to and from our private yard for a safe, structured, and fun group experience.
Playgroup participation is optional and based on fit, comfort level, qualifications, and business needs.

OTHER OPPORTUNITIES

Our primary hiring focus is midday dog walking.
At times, there may also be opportunities for additional pet care work, such as vacation visits, cat care, evenings, weekends, or select overnight assignments. These are secondary to our main dog walking need and may vary based on business needs.
