As we are really beginning to feel the winter weather there are concerns for our furry friends. Most people think they are helping by throwing salt down to prevent icy surfaces, which they are from a slip and fall perspective, but few individuals and businesses use pet safe salt. The harsh salt used to melt the ice on the surfaces we walk and drive on can burn the pads of your dogs feet. Please make sure to clean them when you come inside with warm water and a towel and you may need to stop and wipe them along the way if your dog is limping. They will limp if a piece of salt or clump of snow gets onto their paws or in between the pads. You don’t want them to lick themselves clean and ingest the salt, please be careful.
